Privacy Policy
We collect the minimum we need to run the marketplace, we never sell your data, and we let you delete your account at any time. Here's the detail.
1. What we collect
When you create an account
- Your name, email address, and phone number
- A hashed password (we never see your plain password)
- Your city, so we can show relevant listings
When you use the site
- Listings you post, buy requests you create, messages you send
- IP address, browser type, and pages you visit (standard server logs)
- A session cookie so you stay logged in
2. How we use it
- To show you listings and leads in your city
- To enable chat between you and other users
- To detect fraud — our chat scanner flags phone numbers and OTP requests
- To send you service emails (new messages, listing status, policy changes)
- To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns
3. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. Ever. We share it only with:
- Other users — but only the parts you choose to make public. Your phone number is hidden until you explicitly reveal it in a chat or unlock a buying lead.
- Service providers — our hosting provider, email sender, and analytics tool. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement.
- Law enforcement — only when legally required and only the minimum necessary.
4. Cookies
We use one session cookie (tj_sess) to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future, we'll disclose it here and offer opt-out.
5. Your rights
- Access — download a copy of all your data by emailing [email protected]
- Correction — edit your profile from your account page
- Deletion — delete your account and all associated data at any time
- Portability — we'll export your listings and messages in JSON format on request
- Objection — you can opt out of service emails (except legal notices) at any time
6. Data retention
Active account data is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, we remove personal identifiers within 30 days. Anonymised statistics (aggregate counts, fraud signals) may be retained longer for product integrity.
7. Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. All traffic is served over HTTPS. Access to production data is limited to a small number of engineers with a strict need-to-know. We routinely review logs for unauthorised access.
8. Children
TradeJodo is not intended for users under 18. If we learn we've collected data from a minor, we'll delete it promptly.
9. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email and post a prominent banner on the site at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
